Quick post

First, I made progress on the skirt I mentioned in this post. It's not finished and won't be finished in time for our trip next weekend, but that's OK. I'll also need to remove about a foot from the length of the skirt. Let's face it, 80s clothing were nothing if not voluminous.

Second, my folks sent me this lovely addition to my kitty collection. I love it.

Just wanted to tell you, I have used these posts for teaching Alison the last few days. She got out the sewing stuff and wanted to pick back up making doll clothes. You gave her a pattern several years ago and she's started several times, but hasn't finished a piece yet. She was getting very frustrated that the pieces she cut weren't perfect and wanted to quit (again), but I showed her this post. It was so encouraging to her to see that sewing takes many tries and lots of patience from even the experts. So thank you for posting!

Fortunately (?), I have a lot of mess ups like that in my sewing history. Things I cut incorrectly, or fabric I melted (and ruined the best iron I ever had), or patterns I thought would look good on me and in fact looked truly awful. Or things that just didn't fit for whatever reason.

When things work, it's so gratifying but man when they don't, it's very humbling and frustrating.
