Me: (peering into the just opened container of 18 eggs) That is IT. You are not buying eggs any more.
Kent: I'm fine with that . . . how come?
Me: One egg is entirely missing and three more are broken!
Kent: Huh. I didn't notice.
Me: ::eye roll::
Do you check the eggs you are going to buy before you buy them? Surely I am not the only person who does this.

Yes, always--but I haven't bought grocery eggs for more than a year. I have three local suppliers, and they take care that none get broken.
I am jealous. I've never had fresh from the hen house eggs but I've heard they are amazing.
I only (unless I'm hard up) buy eggs through my co-op now so they are literally farm fresh. And never broken. They also come in beautiful colors.
But, when I'm forced to buy them in the grocery store, yes, I ALWAYS check them. I lift each one up and inspect.
No.
My husband checks the eggs. His response to me is about the same as yours to your husband. Works for me! :-)
