A replacement

And also an early anniversary present. Back story is here. I've looked online for a replacement occasionally over the last couple of years as has Kent with no luck until this week.

Behold the new butter dish:

The original one was turquoise, and we really liked that color a lot. But I also really like this color for two reasons. First, this color was only made between 1951 and 1959 which is also when Kent's mother got her dishes (toward the end of the decade after she got married). And second, we have the teapot, sugar dish and creamer in the same color. I am beyond happy we were able to replace this--and yes, it's most definitely housed back against the wall to keep it safe from Wally's pushy paws.

My MIL collected this when she first got married. When Kent and I had a huge kitchen, we had and used the dishes but they have to be hand-washed and can't go in the microwave. So before we left Kansas City, we returned most of the dishes to her. We'd collected several of the serving dishes she either didn't have or had broken over the years and we kept those.

Beautiful!!!!

Check out www.onekingslane.com. If you've not heard of them it's worth checking out. I noticed the other day they had some fiesta pieces but right now don't see them. It's a different sort of biz model, so inventory is inconsistent and goes fast. But, I'll bet they'd know just where to get what you want if you were looking for more. :-)

I'll look but Harlequin isn't Fiesta even though they were made by the same company. Harlequin was sold at Woolworth's and was the less expensive line of dishes.
